"Big footprints in hearts, small carbon footprints on Earth."
Our mission includes educating children on the dynamics of being eco-conscious. We aspire to create fewer carbon footprints by recycling, using eco-friendly products and most importantly, introducing current food alternatives to establish a healthier diet for children.
Little Green Giants Child Care began its journey in Guilford, Baltimore, as a home daycare before relocating to Montford, Baltimore to continue the home care journey. Little Green Giants (LGG) was designed with both children and parents in mind, offering the perfect balance of challenging curricula and a nurturing, intimate atmosphere.
We have since grown and expanded to a child care facility in the heart of Hampden. Our vision from the start was to create a daycare haven for parents who value educational enrichment while still longing for the personalized, cozy environment typically found in smaller settings. To this day, our commitment remains the same: to provide our families with that same warm, trusted care that has always set us apart.
At LGG, we believe in caring for children with the same respect and thoughtfulness that we extend to the Earth. As an eco-conscious and eco-healthy daycare, we use non-toxic and plant-based products and we serve fresh fruit/ vegetables and whole foods to ensure the well-being of your child, inside and out.
At Little Green Giants, we believe young children learn best through meaningful experiences, nurturing relationships, and joyful exploration. Our teaching approach blends the strongest research-based practices from renowned early childhood philosophies — including Reggio Emilia, Montessori, HighScope, and play-based learning — into one thoughtfully designed, child-centered model.
Rather than following a single method, we intentionally incorporate the best elements of each approach to meet the unique needs of every child. From Montessori, we embrace independence, hands-on materials, and self-paced discovery. Inspired by Reggio Emilia, we value curiosity, creativity, and children as capable learners whose ideas guide learning experiences. Through HighScope principles, we focus on active learning, consistent routines, and reflection. And through play-based learning, we recognize play as the foundation for cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
This integrated approach allows children to explore, problem-solve, collaborate, and build confidence in a warm, engaging environment where learning feels natural and exciting. Our educators serve as guides- observing, supporting, and extending each child’s interests to foster a lifelong love of learning.
At Little Green Giants, we are growing and supportingconfident thinkers, compassionate friends, and innovative leaders.
Our infant and toddler program is built on the understanding that the earliest years of life lay the foundation for all future learning. We provide a warm, responsive, and nurturing environment where children feel safe, loved, and confident to explore the world around them.
Our approach blends research-based practices inspired by Montessori, Reggio Emilia, HighScope, and play-based learning. It is thoughtfully adapted for our youngest learners. Through sensory play, hands-on exploration, language-rich interactions, movement, music, and routine-based learning, infants and toddlers develop essential skills in communication, motor development, social-emotional growth, and early problem-solving.
We follow each child’s individual pace and interests, offering personalized experiences that support curiosity, independence, and strong caregiver-child bonds. Small group settings allow for meaningful connections, consistent support, and individualized attention thus helping children build trust, confidence, and a love for learning from the very beginning.
As toddlers grow and graduate from this program, they are well-versed in foundational skills such as following routines, communicating needs, engaging in group experiences, exploring materials with purpose, and developing early self-help abilities. These skills create a smooth and confident transition into our preschool program, where learning continues to expand in deeper and more structured ways.

Our preschool program is intentionally designed to prepare children for a confident, successful transition into kindergarten and beyond. We focus on the essential academic, social, and emotional foundations every child needs while recognizing that no two learners are the same. Each child receives a personalized learning plan tailored to their current skills, interests, and future goals, ensuring steady growth and meaningful progress.
With small class sizes, children benefit from individualized attention, stronger teacher relationships, and a calm (sometimes wild and crazy- can't forget they're kids), focused learning environment that allows them to thrive and not get lost in the crowd. This intimate setting supports faster skill development, increased confidence, and deeper engagement.
Our program thoughtfully balances child-led exploration with teacher-guided instruction, giving children the freedom to discover while also building strong early literacy, math, problem-solving, and social skills. This combination helps children develop independence, curiosity, and the structure needed for elementary school success.
By the time children graduate from our preschool program, they are well-versed in the skills needed to succeed in a variety of learning environments including full Montessori classrooms, public and private schools, outdoor and nature-based schools, and other educational settings. Our goal is to nurture adaptable, confident learners who are ready to thrive wherever their educational journey leads.
Parents choose our preschool because their children are not only cared for- they are challenged, supported, and truly prepared for the next stage of learning and we have fun during the whole process.

A curriculum rooted in the roots of the Earth. Our curriculum is ever changing just as the world is. But one thing's for sure- our specialized focused in minimizing our carbon footprints and sustainability is not just part of our curriculum but also our daycare lifestyle.
Mandarin Immersion Program: At Little Green Giants, we value powerful learning experiences that begin early and grow with each child. Through our partnership with Johns Hopkins University’s Blue Hatchlings program, graduate students visit our preschool to work directly with our children through STEM-based activities and Mandarin language instruction.
These sessions are designed to be hands-on and developmentally appropriate, using play, stories, movement, and simple problem-solving activities to introduce Mandarin in a natural and engaging way. Children learn alongside graduate students who bring both academic knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for working with young learners.
The program also incorporates age-appropriate technology and emerging AI-supported learning tools that allow children to explore, interact, and learn through guided play. These tools are thoughtfully integrated to support language development, early STEM skills, and curiosity (never replacing human connection), but enhancing learning in meaningful ways.
This collaboration allows our children to experience new ideas, cultures, and ways of thinking while building confidence, communication skills, and a strong foundation for future learning.
At Little Green Giants, we are intentional about building partnerships that reflect our commitment to high-quality early education and real-world learning opportunities for our families.
Dermatology Collective Club at Hopkins: Students from the Dermatology Collective Club visit our center to lead engaging lessons focused on skin health, hygiene, and basic self-care using the Good Skin Knowledge curriculum developed by the American Academy of Dermatology. Children learn simple, practical habits such as washing hands and faces, protecting skin, and understanding how to care for their bodies in everyday ways.
In collaboration with CardioLink at Johns Hopkins, children are also introduced to early concepts of heart health through movement-based activities, simple nutrition discussions, and interactive lessons created especially for young children. These experiences help build awareness around physical activity, healthy choices, and caring for their growing bodies.
These combined sessions take place regularly and are thoughtfully adapted to meet the developmental needs of preschool-aged children.
Child care and public school programs that participate in Maryland EXCELS are committed to providing the best possible education and care. High-quality child care and education builds stronger communities, supports family success, and improves student outcomes in school and in life.
